Beyonce Records Video For Michelle Obama

Bey reads personal letter to the first lady in a video for President Obama's re-election campaign.

<a href="/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> has never been shy about her admiration for Michelle Obama. In April, she <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/04/12/beyonce-writes-letter-michelle-obama/">dedicated a note to the first lady</a> via her website, heavy with praise, and this week, Bey delivered the message aloud, in a new <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1qpzHkA6tQ&feature=player_embedded" target="_blank">video</a> that supports President Obama's re-election campaign."I wrote a letter to the first lady because I wanted her to know that I'm very grateful for everything she's done for our country and also for women around the world," Beyoncé says as she introduces the clip.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Beyonce Gets Back To Business, Kicks Off Summer!" id="vid:785342" width="415" height="255"></div>During the brief video, the camera cuts from the singer as she begins to read the note, and a set of photos showing Mrs. Obama hard at work and hanging with her family begins to play. "Michelle is the ultimate example of a truly strong African-American," Beyoncé reads as the photos scroll by. "She is a caring mother, she's a loving wife, while at the same time she is the first lady!"When Beyoncé originally posted the handwritten note on her site in April, the FLOTUS respond via Twitter, writing, "Thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to."Beyoncé cemented her relationship with Michelle Obama last year, when she teamed up with the first lady to help promote the "Let's Move!" campaign, which targeted childhood obesity. According to Obama, Bey reworked her single "Get Me Bodied" into "Move Your Body," without even being asked, and she was happy to film an accompanying video for the song.When Beyoncé made her return to the stage over Memorial Day weekend with a series of concerts at Revel Resorts — her first since baby Blue Ivy was born — the <a href="/news/articles/1685932/beyonce-michelle-obama-atlantic-city.jhtml">first lady made a trip to Atlantic City</a> along with her two daughters to catch the show and later praised Beyoncé for her performance.During a May interview with People, the <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/05/30/michelle-obama-beyonce-atlantic-city-shows/">first lady expressed just how much she liked the singer</a>. "If I had some gift, I'd be Beyoncé," she said. "I'd be some great singer."

Lady Gaga Previews New Song From Car In New York

Mother Monster blasts track on the streets of the Big Apple for fans gathered around her SUV.

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> was in her hometown on Sunday night and gave her fellow New Yorkers a special treat. Sitting in her car, she played a new track off her forthcoming album for gathered fans.In barely audible footage <a href="http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news/a394632/lady-gaga-plays-new-track-on-car-stereo-for-fans-in-new-york.html" target="_blank">posted</a> online, the dance track plays in the background — the majority of what is heard in the video is the club-banging beat. Gaga sits in the backseat of an SUV as fans call the track "amazing." The 38-second clip ends with the Mother Monster driving away from her fans.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Has The Title And Concept For Her Next Album" id="vid:717202" width="415" height="255"></div>Shortly after the encounter, fans began tweeting about meeting the singer and getting the preview. One fan <a href="http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news/a394632/lady-gaga-plays-new-track-on-car-stereo-for-fans-in-new-york.html" target="_blank">wrote</a>, "Just met GaGa! She was playing a song from her new album! ... It was a very heavy dance/club song! The beat was f---ing insane!"Another person who was there said that the song might end up being the first released off Gaga's forthcoming album. "I asked her if it was the new single she looked at me and shook her head yes and said shhhhh," the fan <a href="http://www.mtv.co.uk/news/lady-gaga/360229-lady-gaga-leaks-track-fans-new-york-city" target="_blank">tweeted</a>.Gaga will reveal the name of her <a href="/news/articles/1686922/lady-gaga-new-album-title.jhtml">new album in September</a>. Last week she hinted that the first song off the LP is produced by longtime collaborator DJ White Shadow, who worked with Gaga on Born This Way singles "Born This Way" and "The Edge of Glory."While fans might have to wait a little longer to hear more of this new track, Gaga has been playing a song called "Princess Die" while on tour. If this new untitled track is any indication, <a href="/news/articles/1689212/lady-gaga-next-album.jhtml">Gaga is focusing</a> on making pure dance music, something she implied while out on the road."Let's just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote Born This Way, I demonstrated a sense of maturity," she said. Do Foo Fighters Know Robert Pattinson From Robert Plant?

During band's rehearsal break for Sunday's Movie Awards, we put Foos to the test.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Hard rock, heavy metal, hardcore and punk have long gone hand-in-hand with evil wizards, magic, vampires and werewolves. And with a collective sub-cultural pedigree that includes stints in the Germs, No Use for a Name, Sunny Day Real Estate, Scream and some band called Nirvana, you'd think the <a href="/music/artist/foo_fighters/artist.jhtml">Foo Fighters</a> — set to perform at Sunday's <a href="http://www.mtv.com/ontv/movieawards/2011/">Movie Awards</a> — would know their "Potter" from their Zeppelin. Certainly they can recognize a "wand" reference and pinpoint its origin?<div class="player-placeholder right" title="The Foo Fighters Take The Movie Awards Quiz" id="vid:660301.id:1664959" width="240" height="211"></div>Right? Before we put MTV News' magically crafted trivia to the band, it seemed safe to assume the Foos would accurately distinguish between the words of Harry Potter, a "Twilight" character and Led Zeppelin. But was their underground nerd cred blown to shreds?
